Hi! I am Doug Gates. I have been married to my wife Gwen for 23 years. We have two kids that keep us busy with high school activities and who are soon to be college bound. I am not only a native Houstonian but, I am also a 5th generation Texan. My great, great grandfather Amos, his wife Lydia, her family, his brothers and father William were part of the “Old Three Hundred” which refers to Stephen F. Austin’s original settlers to come to Texas in the winter of 1821. They all settled in Washington County about five miles south of Washington on the Brazos and received their Mexican Land Grants along the banks of the Brazos River. The original signed land grants for the old three hundred are part of the historical collections of the Texas General Land Office in Austin.
I graduated from Texas A&M University in 1980, with degrees in Building Construction and Civil Engineering. Gwen is also an Aggie and we met as blind dates to an Aggie football game in 1985. In 1989, I earned my Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston – Clear Lake. I am a register Professional Engineer in Texas and have 30 years of engineering, marketing, sales and business development experience. I am currently a lead civil/structural engineer for a medium sized engineering firm. Part of my past professional experience has been inspecting homes where I developed my interest in real estate.
I met David Moore several years ago through his father, Robert, whom I have known since 1991. I look forward to commencing my real estate career with David who will share his skill and experience with me so that I will become as diligent and comprehensive as he. My goal is to serve your complete needs in buying, selling, leasing a home or managing your property if the need should arise.
